Deishi Shibuya, was a craftsman, who shaped pottery on a potter's wheel and baked them into a kiln. A renowned ceramist, when it is found, transmits the experience of decades of history and within itself embodies the importance of implementing an artistic talent perfectly integrated with the aspirations of his art. There are many potters around the globe and in Japan a small group of living Japanese ceramists have earned the title Living National Treasures, thanks to their unparalleled skills. Stoneware, his carved body have an awesome brown clay beneath a thick crawling white glaze, the wood lid have an high texture & u can handle as well mounted comes together with a a signed wooden Box. The clay which blended rough sand is called Oni-Hagi. The motif of Deishi's work always been the old huge cherry tree Usuzumi Sakura specified as the natural treasure in Gifu Prefecture. This glaze currently used for this work is straw-ashes glaze, and is the original blend glaze which Deishi studied for 30 years and was made.
