Learned from his father, the first Gyokudo. Temporarily moved his kiln to Tobe, Ehime Prefecture, during the war. Founded the Gyokudo Toen pottery in Kyoto in 1953. Took part in the planning of the creation of the Sumiyama Ceramics Cooperative in Sumiyama, Uji, in 1975, and took office as director. Succeeded to the Gyokudo name in 1977.
