TŌ-JI (東寺)

Tō-ji (東寺, Tō-ji) (East Temple) is when u wanna discover the five-story pagoda structure, a building it reach up to 65m into Kyoto's sky. In the past, the pagoda was seen as an entrance symbol to the city. For some, it still is. To-ji temple might feel quite imposing - not only because of the height of the pagoda but also due to the sense of history that is conveyed through the surrounding garden and towering trees. To-ji incense is my personal favourite.  Is a Buddhist temple founded at the beginning of the Heian Period just after the capital was moved to Kyotoin the late 700s. About thirty years after the temple's establishment, Kobo Daishi, the founder of the Shingon sect of Japanese Buddhism, was appointed head priest of Toji, and the temple became one of the most important Shingon temples besides the sect's headquarters on Mount Koya.

The raw material is mainly from agar, but there should be other herbs and spices with sandal wood of Dong. This incense is very suitable for reading or working: when you smell it, you can calm down and work hard. The burning time is about half an hour. After the combustion, the fragrance can last for a while.
