According to his stories, Yamane gets up every morning at 5 a.m. to climb a nearby mountain from where he enjoys the sunrise and then go about his craft until the evening. For Yamane, not only the end product but also the creative process is crucial, possibly the daily ascent of the mountain is the inspiration of both his deep blue glazes, which correspond to the dawn, and the colors of his brightly colored glazes, which may be inspired by the rising sun. His physical and mental training in the morning also underlines his ambitions as a master of karate art.
