Shiga is the soil, and a chawan need to be cooked in one of the 6 oldest kiln.Shiho used his own built anagama and he won a fire battle hole kiln, that's why we call his works IGA. Iga ware uses local clay which is extremely more resistant to heat, reacts well to repeated firing. Shigaraki means the region but also because at the time was a crossroads for merchants and pottery. I tend to say Iga when a result have extremely passed the fire limit, and I consider a step up( from Shigaraki to Iga) when i see results like that.Price change Vincent, when u see landscapes in a chawan, made with an extreme primordial burnt surfaces, there's nothing to say. Everything is explained clearly.

When shiho kanzaki used to woodfire he used always the same legendary kiln that have different levels.

Anagama

Shiho Kanzaki was revered by many people, many loved him above all for his true and irrefutable passion for shiga. His vessels are like jewels thrown from heaven. He used to burn his works in anagama for a maximum of 14/15 days. those few works that he created were placed in the kiln without being glazed and came out with a natural ash glaze (shizen-yu). The slow accumulation of ash creates random patterns on the surface. every time he made a kiln many of the works were purchased in enormous quantities by collectors for millions of dollars. although the ash glaze can deposit randomly, in reality the graduated position of the kiln allows you to predict the results although it takes a lot of luck to manage the fire at very high temperatures, given that many works explode during firing, the most valuable works are those which they maintain a certain delicacy and which differ from the works that remain at the bottom of the oven where there is the largest accumulation of ash, once cooking is finished many are selected and are reported or purchased set aside, because not all are the same. the price varies depending on the historical period of the year and the delicacy and strong balance in the result, and this is established by tea experts.
